Eldest brother Ray(mond)(13-02-1938 - 04-09-2005) passed away in Belville some time ago. With his first wife Sylvia, he had Anton (Fbook?). With Etna, he had, Hugo, deceased, but Bernard was floating between Paarl and some coastal town some years ago. Annemarie, the third child with Etna, was somewhere in Swellendam I think. His (Ray) two sons with his first wife, Silvia who still lives in de Bron Laan (opposite Parow on the way to Blaauwbergstrand) and last Anton, was living with her and his wife. Then, Ludre-Ann in Secunda now, (Fbook) his daughter with Annette.

Martin (FBook/Whatsup), lives in George, and his son with  Lettie (du Toit/de Swart, Raymond (Fbook). He is the one into Arts, Drama, and Dance and was the choreographer for the Afrikaans movie "Liefling", and now living in Canada. Then Melissa Voster Theart I think in Stellenbosch. Was also married to Laeticia Zondagh(Fbook)(sister of my wife Theresa)

Juan, was married to Annemarie Kleynscheldt He was murdered in the Kraaifontein some years ago. He had two sons, Pierre (Fbook) and Theuns(Fbook). Pierre of Theuns se seun Drukus(g 23 Nov 1994) (Fbook). Pierre lives with his mom in Worcester. His mother, Annemarie died about a year ago (2021)

Wie is Gerrit Kleynscheldt en Goffrey Theart?

Tersa, known as Tinkie (Fbook/Difficult to contact), is in Buffelsfontein in a Retirement home. She died some months ago (on 11 Jun 2022. Her two children, Rickus (Huyshamen)Fbook, in USA  and Marde (Goosen)(Fbook).

Daniel (Fbook/Whatsup), bly nou in 'n aftree oord in Ellisras. Hy was getroud met Aletta Johanna Steyn (Lanie) met een seun,Marthinus (Thinus) Johannes (Fbook)(g 29-03-1971). Sy kinders is dogter Tinika Theart (23)(Fbook) en seun Tristan Theart (18) (FBook). Sy vrou is Veronica. Hullle woon tans naby Vredendal net buite Lutzville in Weskaap.

He also had a daughter Daniela(Fbook)  with Suzette Theart (Fbook).

Daar is ook  Niki (Habig)(Fbook) dogter wat hy by Ingrid gehad het. (Ook 'n Daniel en Michelle en Maryke kinders, maar ek weet nie hulle ma se name nie)

Marlene, the eldest sister, died many years ago in a pedestrian accident in died Strand. Her daughter with Jos, Joslene, was last seen in Bloemfontein. I am trying to trace her as she is my niece and we were born on the same day (26 June 1960). GP le Roux (Fbook), Marlene’s son with uncle Hans (deceased), lives in Ceres. Was married to Anita van Zyl and had Anneka (30) and  Gian (25), both living in Bredasdorp. He is now married to Heather Christonita Swart.

Abri(e), (Fbook) now retired pensioner, married to Theresa Zondagh, is retired and lives on a plot close to Roodeplaat Dam in Pretoria. Theresa's daughter is Yolandie Beukes.

We are from the Theart’s of Veldrif and my father’ name was Martinus Johannes Theart and was also known as “Oom Tol” He was a builder in Paarl, born and died in Piketberg.

My mom was Mageretha de Bod, died when I was 11. –

The Theart/Thiiart/Thiaardt Homepage, owner, who stays in Garsfonntein, Pretoria East, has done some research on us, and had the last input from uncle Ray. Please check his Nuusbrief on site!.  Notice the occurences for "Piketberg". This should enable some to trace their relationship to my Theart Family.

We are here in South Africa since 1652, the Theart’s were or builders, carpenters, fishermen or farmers. First wifes came on the “Alibama ship, sent form Batavia with women/wifes for the lonely workers at the Cape. Appearently the song “Daar kom die Ali-bama”…”.   is associated with us.

The Heraldry Certificate and Family Name History above, also describes some of our French-Huguenot descent.

Revelations from my Vietnam journey 2019-2020

 Soon I will start writing of the experience I had in Vietnam from August 2019 - March 2020. This will be a three-fold storyline with the focus on being:

1. ESL Teacher
2. Christian
3. South African

Intro
During these 8 months, I will recall some of my experiences, observations, questions, and how they related to these three aspects. Here I will just write in summary and will go I more detail in separate blog titles as per the three aspects. As far as the "revelations" go, I will connect them to my themes in my mind, as I formed them during my lifespan and make connections to books I read along the way. In this manner, I will also link to books, websites, and youtube channels that I have used or found, related to these themes and subjects. In this way, I would like to connect with people on social media, beginning here and websites like Goodreads and LibraryThing   and even supply links my Amazon Affiliate Store, where books can be bought for further support of my reading/study.

Purpose of my visit to Vietnam.

As I am in a retired stage in my career and after being retrenched in 2012, I was blessed to find contract work, from time to time, but sooner or later, the opportunities run out in our country for obvious reasons. In order to still generate some income, I was advised by a friend to consider teaching English (ESL) in Vietnam. I soon started to take my ESL course and in August 2019 flew to Ho Chi Minh (Saigon).

Reason for returning

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic ( I will later publish my opinion on this (P)landemic), which already surfaced in December 2019 in Asia, the schools were continuing their shutdown after the TET (Chinese NewYear) of 29 January 2020. Although my Director (CEO of English Center) advised me to go back to my country, I hang around looking for other opportunities. (More about this in the 1. ESL Teacher Blog). With limited money on me, I had to make a decision, or stay around or buy a air ticket back to South Africa. Eventually, I flew back on the 13 March 2020.

Well, this is the long and the short of the story. Different readers of this blog will be interested in different aspects and I will continue to discuss them in the individual three blogs.
